Coffee Before Sunrise

Watching the sunrise

Life is busy. Generally speaking, we wake up and do our morning routines to get ready for the day – whether it’s for school or for work. The morning hustle and bustle becomes an automated routine, a ritual we can do on autopilot. How many times have we said feeling rushed, “… out the door”. And then it’s the journey to our locations, the traffic, the waiting in line for a train, waiting for the bus, a ride. Over and over again, day after day. It’s exhausting just writing about it. And somewhere deep down inside, while hustling around, we think of moments of peace, calm, of tranquility, and maybe even think to ourselves  .. “I can really use that place right now”.  The morning time, when everyone is still asleep, before you have to make breakfast and lunches for the day for your family, make yourself a cup of coffee and watch the sunrise. This alone time allows you to ease into the day, to watch the light grow around you, and to witness the beauty of having the gift of another day.

The gift of a day

Days are like fingerprints – they are all different. You might sometimes feel like each day is the same, like they skip along like a broken record always playing the same tune, but they don’t. Each day offers something different, and you have to keep yourself open to see what’s happening around you – after all, it’s your day, nobody else’s – and that in itself, makes it different. We aren’t guaranteed another day, and that’s another reason why it’s different. It’s up to us to cherish the day we’ve been given, it’s truly a special gift. Make time to breath it in, to see it – really see it. Look around, notice new things, call your friend or loved ones and ask them about their day, tell them you love them. If you think about it, a day that is given, is given to everyone, it doesn’t matter – but what you do with it, does matter.

Days become lyrics

The days we are given are filled with experiences, and words are used to describe those experiences. Those words can then be stitched into lyrics, and you have a treasure chest filled with daily words. Just go ahead and think of your day, jot down your experiences at the end of the day – the words.  Soon, you’ll see themes you can use to create your own song lyrics. Not bad for starting each day with a cup of coffee before sunrise.
